The 'Brussels insider expert' prize
The ‘Brussels Insider Expert’ prize is awarded to a prominent Brussels personality who elevates the city’s profile and reputation.
Last year, in 2022, we were thrilled to confer this award to Bas SMETS, who is widely acknowledged for his extensive work in landscape architecture, civil engineering, and architecture.
He established his practice in Brussels in 2007, and with his team of 20 architects and landscape architects, has successfully completed over 50 projects in more than 12 countries. His accomplishments serve as a beacon of Brussels’ reach and influence in the field of architecture and design.
The 'Expertise Transmission' prize
The ‘Expertise Transmission’ prize is a testament to the BEL’s commitment to nurturing and promoting the upcoming spearheads of Brussels’ expertise.
This award is presented to a young talent with immense potential and ambition, mirroring BEL’s mission to support and accentuate the entrepreneurial energy pulsating within Brussels.
Last year, several remarkable young talents and start-ups have been nominated for this prize, including Ndiaga DIAW, Alice EMERY, NOOSA, and NORM. Each nominee has showcased exceptional innovation, creativity, and resilience, making them shining examples of Brussels’ entrepreneurial spirit.
The BEL Prizes not only reflect our ongoing dedication to celebrate and promote Brussels vibrant community and its diverse talents but also our commitment to drive growth and innovation within the city. We believe that through these awards, we are shaping a brighter and more prosperous future for Brussels.
